After creating a hit like
‘Apoorvaraagam’,veteran
director Sibi Malayil has treated
the malayalam cinema lovers with
a truly romantic family
entertainer called Violin.Asif Ali and Nithya Menon in the lead, the
movie portrays a small frame
musical film to entertain the
youth especially with some new
thread and a different style of
approach to the same. The songs are the highlights of this movie,
which are already in the top ten
list of the year. Getting into the thread of this
movie, Violin,Nithya has blended
very well as an anglo indian girl
called Angel, who lives in Fort
Cochin with her Aunts.Very
closely knit these people are and they make bakery items for
living. Angel is in the dark cloud
of the past experience, which is
actually a negligible one, but she
is so sensitive that, she finds it
too difficult to mingle with people outside her small and lonely
world.Her violin is the most
precious item that she has which
was gifted by her late mother.
She spends time with her violin
than with any other activities in life or with some other people or
crowd.She is an excellent player
and almost at the peaks of
talent she is in because of her
affinity towards music. Usually it
is difficult for Angel to start a conversation even with stragers
and especially if it is a man then,
she does not prefer to be a
friend.Even if it happens it will
take ages for her to offer her
care as a friend.Angel’s life takes a sudden twist as she
becomes friendly with a boy
named Aby who hails from a
remote village of Karimannur.He
is as innocent as his village is and
who has had a truly empathetic childhood. He is the son of a
guitarist, who was in Kochi’s
rock music bands.He somehow
falls into music bits and then
with his peculiar ways changes
himself.Aby is truly positive and always an enthusiastic
person.Slowly Aby becomes more
close to Angel and relises that,
music is the one factor, which
has brought both of them
together. Then he tries his best to change their lives, giving
importance for Angel in achieving
her desires, dreams and hopes
into reality. Vijayaraghavan(Simon), the
owner of a sea food export
company has nothing much to do
other than a normal character
and Jagathy Sreekumar as usual
appears different from his previous role.Sreejith Ravi,
Chembil Asokan, Lakshmi and
Reena Basheer has done the
roles very well.Especially Reena
and Lakshmi, the aunts, who are
very close to Angel as well, has got immersed into the portrays
and may be the credit is for Siby
Malayil.Nithya has a bright time
ahead of her in the future as
whatever she touches are
turning into gold.Angel, the picture of an anglo indian girl, as
many from Fort Cochin would
probably know, the director has
exctracted her talents and with
the effort sincere and dedicated,
has been amazingly presented by Nithya. When it comes to our
youngster,the talented youth
icon of malayalam cinema, Asif Ali,
he deserves an applause for the
job he has done.Being a person
from a remote village in real life, would have probably helped him
to get immersed into the soul of
this character called Aby. Once
as his beloved director, Siby
Malayil, mentioned about
him, after Mohanlal, Asif is the next person whom he has seen
with so much of hardwork and
flexiblity in performaces.
Defenitely the guy has done a
lot of homework, he tries to hold
the audience to the seats with his simplicity and the exhibited
born talents.This young man is
once again proving that, he is
capable of handling different
roles, and he would definitely
perform if chances are given. The first half of the movie, drags
a little bit, but, then considering
the fact that, there was no
boasting or over publicity given
to this small time entertainer, it
is ignored to certain extent. Siby Malayil has again concentrated
on strong family values, which
are truly sensitive and this is a
point where a human being
actually fall for and he has
succeeded in getting the appreciation without many big
names in the banner area
too.AOPL, has made the right
choice by selecting a wonderful
casting.Movie,Violin is framed by
Manoj Pillai, who has not done extra ordinary trials or
experiments with his lenses.But,
there is nothing to blame his
works. Bijipal is the who has to
be appreciated and noted for
the variety of the songs which he has created, blend with the
theme of this movie, while
Bollywood composer Anand Raj
Anand has also tuned one of the
songs of Violin.Rafeeq, is a
promising lyricist and has very well penned according to the
mood of this movie. Violin is a very simple theme,
with a lot of scenes to hold us
back to the seats, ofcourse,
they never made it too loud, and
as we have always seen in the
past, Siby Malayil is one director, whose movies, take some time to
start off their collection.This is
common in all the family oriented
themes,script writers and
directors.But, this time, for sure,
the graph will have a sudden and faster climb than the past.
