Piracy is killing the Film industry !

Already faced with dwindling
attendance in cinema halls across
the state, Malayalam film makers
appear shaken as the two latest
releases are available for
download on YouTube. Complaints have now been filed with Kerala
Police to withdraw these films
from internet.

“Rathinirvedam” and “Salt and
Pepper” have already been
downloaded by now more than
one lakh people. Aashiq Abu, director of “Salt and
Pepper”, said that he has
petitioned cyber police and they
have taken the complaint
seriously. “We have already asked
YouTube to see that this is
removed from the site and we
are expecting that it will be
done. We wish those behind this
are taken to task,” said Abu. To film makers’ relief, one of
the first things that actor-
turned-Minister for Cinema K.B.
Ganesh Kumar did was to create
an anti-piracy cell of police. Speaking to Keral.com Suresh
Kumar, producer of
“Rathinirvedam”, said: “As soon
as we got the news that my film
is available on the internet, we
registered a complaint with police here. Nothing has
happened to our complaint.” “Piracy is killing the industry,”
said Kumar.
