Debutant Vinay Govind's Asif Ali,
Aju Varghese-starrer, 'Kili Poyi', generated a lot of buzz as it was
after many years that a Malayalam film was given an 'A' certificate by
the Central Board of Film Certification.
Now, the
movie is again in the news for being named the 62nd stoner movie in the
world, apparently the first in India, according to an online encyclopedia.
However, the director says that marijuana or its use has not been
glorified in the movie. "We have actor Sreejith Ravi giving a message
about its ill effects towards the end of the movie. Also, a statutory
warning was also included at the beginning and end. The Censor Board
gave it an A certificate, so that only those who are mature enough would
be able to watch it, and we did the promotions accordingly," he says.
Kili Poyi has been receiving mixed reviews ever since its release. "Though some people criticised the movie, the rest have received the movie in the right spirit and enjoyed watching it," says Vinay.
Stoner movies A
